Abuse comes in many forms in today's nursing homes. Injuries most frequently occur as a result of a lack of supervision. With many facilities fielding undertrained personnel who work long shifts without others there to assist them, many injuries occur when the elderly go unwatched for hours at a time. This results in malnutrition, failure to medicate, and other unsanitary conditions that can lead to infection and death.
