The other morning on TODAY while I was shaving, they were talking about the hazards of kids and ATV’s.  They announced that on that evening there was going to be an hour long show on the hazards of ATVs.  Unfortunately, I missed that show.  But, I already know the dangers of ATV’s and kids.  One of my clients was a father who when his son did not come home for supper found his son dead as a result of an ATV accident.  He was 14.  He had gotten permission to ride in a neighbor’s cornfield.  The tracks showed that he had been riding the ATV around and around in the cornfield jumping the machine over a little bump.  It overturned and crushed him.

Another client let his 10 year ride an ATV in a pasture.  The ATV hit a bump and flipped, landed on top of him and killed him.

A 16 year old client lost control of his ATV hit  tree and suffered brain damage which resulted in impaired speech and paralysis down one side of his body.

Another 16 year old client attempt to ride straight up a steep hill.  The ATV flipped over backwards and literally pinned his heels to his ears.  He actually heard his back break.  He is paralyzed from the waist down.

The fun of riding an ATV is not worth the risk.

According to Fredericksburg.com, an Orange County toddler died from a Virginia pit bull attack on September 28th. The family pit bull mauled the small girl, who was pronounced dead at University of Virginia Medical Center.

The girl had left her home and wandered into the area where the dog was chained when she was attacked by the pit bull. The mother of the girl told deputies that she had been preoccupied and went to find the girl when she noticed that she was not inside the home.

The parents of the girl have been uncooperative, according to police, and investigators are still trying to piece together the full details of what happened the day of the attack.
