Three people killed in three separate auto accidents. Three people killed were not wearing their seat belts.

Last year by January 30th, 53 people had been killed on Virginia roads. This year by January 30th, 53 people had also been killed. The last three that were killed died in accidents caused by icy roads. The interesting and alarming thing about the three most recent deaths is that each of those killed were not wearing their seat belts. Two of the three who were not wearing their seatbelts were either rejected or partially ejected. The lesson to be learned from these three deaths is that one should always wear their seatbelt. The idea that one can be thrown three of an accident without serious injuries or deaths is totally false.

Fatal Accident

Fredericksburg - A Fredericksburg man remains hospitalized after being hit by a tractor-trailer when he stumbled onto Interstate 95 following a car accident.  At tractor-trailer severely injured a Fredericksburg man when he stumbled into I-95.  He was transported to   Inova Fairfax Hospital for injuries suffered.  He later died from the injuries he suffered in the tractor-trailer accident.  Witnesses told police that the Fredericksburg man crashed his car into a tree on the side of I-95 near mile marker 130 then stumbled into southbound traffic. He was struck by the tractor-trailer in the center lane.

Dangerous tires - Have your tires passed their expiration date?

A friend of mine told me about an ABC report on dangerous tires.  The tire manufacturers are very unfriendly to consumers.  We as consumers do not know that tires have an expiration date.  Once the expiration date passes the tires become dangerous and are subject to tread separation even if they are new and have lots of tread.  Evidence of tread separation can be seen along the highway, especially I-95, in the form of tire treads that have come off.  At road speed cars and trucks become unstable when a tire suddenly blows up.  Many accidents are caused by such an event.  Losing control at road speed leads to many severe injuries and fatal wrecks.  As an attorney, I felt an obligation to pass this information along.

Alcohol was a factor in a car crash that killed four.

Alcohol was a factor in a fatal car crash that killed four and severely injured one.  The wreck occurred on Rt. 3 about six miles east of Culpeper when a 2002 Chevy Tahoe crossed into the wrong lane and hit a 2004 Toyota Corolla head-on.  The speculation is that crash was the result of a drunk driver.  The deceased are  Tyler Scott Harlow 20, Joseph Lee Sahnow 20; Tianna V. Jones 19; and James B. Cook 21.  27-year-old Howard John Steiniger of Fredericksburg was severely injured.  He was transported to Mary Washington Hospital and the transferred to VCU Medical Center in Richmond.
