Initiating a Claim: The Road Less Traveled
If you have been in a car or truck accident, and have suffered an injury that the insurance company won’t offer compensation for, you have two choices. You can either:
Say nothing, accept the pain, the additional expense, the decline or loss of income, and the strong possibility that both the quality and length of your life will be less from now on;
Hire an experienced attorney, who may give you a whole new perspective on your situation.
It’s really quite amazing how many of those injured say nothing or try to handle their own claim

A non-lawyer wrote a great little book about how to hire a good lawyer. The author is Mischelle Weedman-Davis. She is the client relations manager for a personal injury lawyer in Seattle. She points out things the smart consumer should consider when choosing an attorney to handle his or her serious accident case. The things she points are should be considered whether it is an auto accident, a truck accident, medical malpractice or nursing home neglect.

The Washington Post reported that Nursing Homes Face Reductions In Services in an article by Chris L. Jenkins. He was reporting that Gov. Tim Kaine has proposed cutting $400 million dollars from the state's Medicaid program. I have concerns that this will result in an increased number of injuries to residents. The article specifically mentions Heritage Hall nursing homes and says that the Leesburg Heritage Hall will take a $2,500,000 hit. Some of my clients have sued a Heritage Hall nursing home in King George in the past for allowing pressure sores (bed sores) to develop or go untreated and other things that result in a nursing home that is short of staff. The president of American HealthCare which owns Heritage Hall has said he now plans to cut $500,000 from his staff healthcare plans. Everyone should keep a close eye on any resident in any nursing home because a move like he has suggest will make it even harder to have an adequate number of staff whether it is Heritage Hall or some other nursing home. Prevent nursing home abuse visit residents regularly but at irregular times, take notes and TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS particularly of parts of the body not usually seen when you visit. If you do not look for potential problems, you will not see them. Look under the covers and on all side of the body.
